Heat did not work, thermostat was broken. The room was very cold. Moved to another room, not as cold but heat still not working (avg temperature on the thermostat read in the mid 50s). Bed had stains and body hairs in the sheets from previous guests. This was the worst NGIS that I've ever stayed in. Reminded me of the days when BOQ rooms used to cost much less. These conditions are unacceptable. Unbelievable that guests are being charged 70 dollars to stay in a room with an average temperature in the 50s. They should be charging half the price and advertising to their guests beforehand that there is no heat in the rooms. I recently stayed at a NGIS in San Diego and it was much nicer with upgraded features, space, kitchenettes and cheaper. Naval Base Norfolk NGIS needs to get its act together and revamp their old and outdated accommodations. The next morning I told the front desk that the heat also did not work in the second room that I was provided. I was told that they do not turn the heat on until later in November. Seriously? I did notice that the front desk area was nice and warm.
This place is horrible!!! We had no heat! Very little hot water! Then in the middle of the night we lost power in the whole building!! And it was off all day, we ended up having to move to a completely new hotel!
My final gripes are that the wall paint is chipped and marked from wear in places, and the central air doesn't do much to keep the room cool in the summer.
Very clean rooms. Nice staff. Be sure to make reservations a day or two in advance.
Very knowledgable, helpful and friendly staff. Does need a bit of deep cleaning and general maintenance, but the beds are the most comfy and fluffy!!
The room is otherwise pretty nice. Basic motel stuff like a TV, refrigerator, and plenty of closet space to hang up uniforms.
Has a pretty serious bug problem. I've only been here two days and I've caught three critters of various types using the complimentary plastic water cup and the complimentary notepad. I can confirm they will crawl into bed with you and snuggle. Not so great.
