3. I asked twice what time is check-out time, and I was told 11am, website as well as information in the room said check-out time is noon (12pm).
Location, large room, full kitchen, plates, glasses and all you need kitchen utensils, refrigerator, ice maker, microwave, dishwasher and stove.
If you need a place to stay in Norfolk, this Residence Inn is the best. The help are amazing and the rooms are extremely well appointed. Everything is clean. The breakfasts are worth having. The evening meals on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are fantastic. We love the place. The only drawback is the parking. That adds to the overall cost of the room.
1. We needed to switch rooms, due to neither having hot water nor water pressure in the kitchen, and finding desk chair being vandalized.
From the outside the hotel looks nice, the lobby is updated and clean. All of the employees we spoke with were friendly and helpful. (That's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars). The bed room had a very strong musty odor, I guess that's what you get with a pet friendly hotel. The room was spacious, the bathroom and kitchen area were nice besides the tacky carpet that could use replacing. I am a very clean person, so I ALWAYS thoroughly check out my hotel rooms. I could tell the room had barley been vacuumed in god knows how long, there were old Cheerios under our bed along with a thick line of dust under the bed and around the walls where the carpet meets the wall. Also the side of the dresser was filthy. The mattress could also use replacing, I looked under the sheets when checking for bugs and found dirt and all kinds of nasty stuff on the mattress. We were forced to evacuate from SC so I didn't have many choices with hotels, this was the only decent pet friendly hotel I could find. I would stay again if I absolutely had too, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I guess you get what you pay for. We ended up checking out early and just going home, I couldn't take the smell anymore. (My daughter and I both also got sick after one night staying there so, maybe it's unrelated maybe not).
Great things:
Overall great, clean hotel, but there are a few things that caused rating to lose one
We went to a wedding at the Chrysler Museum of Art, an 8 minute walk from the Residence Inn, which was perfect! We got the parking package which included parking in the public garage and a hot breakfast. Garage was safe and secure, and breakfast was one of the best I've had at a hotel. Room was clean, stay was enjoyable, and staff was attentive and friendly.
Nice friendly staff and hotel. Very competitive price and not too far of a walk to the waterfront area.
2. We stayed for 1 night only, and staff did not informed us that it will be better for us pay $13 for 24 hours parking fee instead of validating the ticket by hotel and got charged $18.
Also: You are charged $18 dollars a day for parking, so pay attention to that! They also don't serve any lunch or dinner, which was disappointing to me. But I don't usually stay at Marriott hotels so that may be normal? Idk.
