Staff was friendly but gave us the wrong room, It was quickly corrected. The room was somewhere to sleep, nothing special and not the cleanest. Toilet was clogged upon arrival and we were given a plunger. I would stay here again if I were going to a concert bc of the close walking distance.
The the hotel is ideally located close to the ODU campus, shopping, restaurants, and a 15 minute drive to the Norfolk Waterside District. The room was spacious enough for a family of four. Our kids loved the complimentary breakfast, which had as good a variety as one could expect for free.
I was quoted a price of $7/day at check in for the parking. The booklet in the room quotes $5/day for parking. They charged me $8/day on checkout.
I will never stay here again.
The location couldn't have been better. Just a short walk down the street to ODU where I was attending a conference. The room was amazing! It was spacious and clean. We had a living room area, microwave, mini fridge, desk, two closets... The bed was so comfortable. The moment I got in, all of my aches and pains melted away. Shower=heaven. The staff were courteous and helpful. I definitely plan on staying here again!
The main complaint is the lack of explanation of how the room key works the gate in the garage and activates the elevator. When I checked in, the front desk did not explain where to park. Consequently I received a citation from the University. Talked to the front desk and they assured me they would take care of the citation. More than three weeks go by. Going over my papers, I find the citation and decide to call Old Dominion to see if the citation is taken care of. It was not. I have a nice chat with the officer on the phone and ask him some questions. He provides a lot of information and tells me that this happens often and that people end up months later having to take care of the citation that the motel says they have taken care of.
Rooms are small. Motel is new. Room was clean. Maid barged in about 8:30 in the morning to clean the room on the first day of stay. They also called on the phone after the maid barged in but didn't let it ring more than one ring. I guess they don't want me to sleep in.
It was a really nice hotel. The lobby was quite large and had very spacious dining. The food wasn't too terrible but could've been a little better.
