Great place for a date! I had so much fun on the Spirit of Norfolk. They have great food and a great atmosphere. I spent more time in the back of the ship taking pictures. The views you can see are amazing. It was a great way to see the Elizabeth river and a wonderful way to enjoy the water and someones company.
The service was great, food was fantastic. We celebrated my birthday and they were so sweet about it! Drinks were a little pricey but overall very nice evening! Good quality family time! The view from the top is breath taking!
The food is great. I love the views and atmosphere. You can go outside on the top deck and sit. There is a buffet of food. They play music and gets everyone involved in dancing together of all races. The lunch cruises play music that is more so for older people but younger people still enjoy the selection. The dinner cruise play more of the now music without curse or rap. Nice dancing music for all.
WHITES BEWARE: Ten of us took the Moonlight cruise. The base price was quite a bit lower than the price we ended up paying. We got there and were patted down and our bags were checked like we were thugs or something. By the time we took off it was clear that we were the only Caucasian people on the boat. The entire night the DJs played music that we didn't recognize, geared towards the African American population. The food was good. The drinks were ridiculously expensive after paying to get on the boat. We were there celebrating my cousin's 50th birthday. We felt very uncomfortable. I picked this cruise because we had liked the dinner cruise. We should have been made aware that the moonlight cruise is geared towards African Americans and that the music catered to that crowd. We will not be returning.
I will start with the good news. This ship's crew was friendly and courteous and the cruise along the sound is a decent voyage. Now for the bad news. There is a buffet. The food was marginal, but more importantly, the food is not covered (see image) leaving it opened for all types of contamination. The wines are cheap but premium priced with many having screw tops rather can corks. Finally, the ship has a dated look similar to a 1990s dance club with crew photographers taking cheap carnival like photos for premium prices (dated). Will NOT return!
