Yep! This place is a joke and complete insult. Couldn't get anyone on the phone or via email so I tried to go to this local office...I was greeted by Norfolks finest at the metal detector. He wouldn't even let me in...asked where I was going and once I told him, he asked if I had an appointment...of course I didn't, I couldn't get anyone on the phone...he ever so kindly directed me and an elderly woman with the same issue to a telephone number then promptly looked away like we were leppers! We both started to call for our appointments, mind you it's 30 degrees outside, within minutes this donut dispatcher told us we had to go outside with our phones...that's right, protecting and serving the worse city in Virginia and we wonder why...what a joke!
Absolutely terrible. They take appointments only now, but you can't just schedule an appointment by calling the branch. You have to call a 1-844 number to be put on hold for around an hour just to schedule an appointment for two weeks out. Then you're told that you're required to show up 5 minutes before you're actually scheduled (for me 9am). So I arrive right about 8:55 because of traffic and parking issues. Then as soon as I walk in and give them my name, I'm told my appointment was for 8:30-9:00 and that I need to reschedule my appointment. There was literally only one person waiting in the waiting area, why could I not be serviced right then? I did exactly what I was told by your terrible scheduling service.
It's bad when everything has to be automated when you just want to talk to ask a simple question that is not on the their web page. Are you out of touch that much with humanity. But you will contact us personally when you want your questions answered. SERIOUSLY!
Ms. Gant is the rudest most inconsiderate women I've ever met. She was absolutely horrendous to everyone she came into contact with. I cannot believe that the irs would hire such a witch to work with the hard working people of America who deserve better than the garbage service they get here.
Just so you understand just how ugly-hearted and unprofessional the people in this office are....I went to this office to seek help with an IRS matter in which my identity had been stolen, false taxes filed in my name and I was unable to file taxes and unable to secure my son's financial aid for school. I went to the IRS office with ALL of the documents requested online but that was not acceptable to the people in the office. They slammed their stapler down, yelled at me, got up and walked away from me, when I burst in tears, they called the police on me and yelled at me to "get out of the office" and then, in view of the police, screamed at me from across the office some more. As a deaf person, this was mighty offensive, I couldn't even see the person screaming at me. They delight in their own power as the IRS and are NOT there to help you. If you really want help, want to get something done, find out the truth and be treated with professional courtesy, go to the Hampton IRS office. The Norfolk IRS office gets a zero stars rating from me but if I don't pick one, the computer will not let me post this review so...ignore that one star rating. They get a zero. Besides the lack of professionalism and what I view as basically a non-physical attack....there is also the issue of them not being on time for an appointment I had to wait 3 weeks for, not understanding their own rules and regulations, bad attitudes etc....gossiping / socializing with each other in full view of customers while customers are waiting, not being able to explain what is happening or the process that you are involved in with regards to how the IRS functions...they were all just very ugly-hearted.
